A few things I have sewn

I have been looking at some of the sewing creations on the Burda website, and decided to post some of my own on this site. I created a profile and posted the items on this site. I decided I should also let my blogging buddies see some of my creations. I'm still working on the shirt that I posted about on my previous post. Well these are all very simple fun items that I have around my home.

Best Sewing Website Ever

I have been looking around the web for some fun sewing websites, and I found the perfect one! It has hundreds of sewing patterns, and not just those dumb craft patterns. It has some cute adult and kid clothes. I'm going to try and make this shirt:

Here's another cute pic that someone made with the pattern:

The website is here. So stinkin cute!!! Have fun looking around.

Ham and Bean Soup

I made this for dinner in about 30 minutes. I love canned beans for this very reason. I didn't have celery so I used celery salt. Use celery if you have it on hand. I topped it with those great high fiber crackers.

Ham and Bean Soup

1/2 lb cubed ham

1 Onion

2 Carrots

2 stalks celery or 1/2 tsp celery salt

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

2 cans Great Northern Beans

2 cups water

olive oil

fresh herb and crackers (optional)

Brown ham with olive oil in stock pot. Meanwhile chop onion, celery, and carrot in food processor. Add vegetable mixture to stock pot and lightly cook for five minutes. Add beans, water, garlic powder, pepper, paprika and celery salt if you don't have celery. Add salt to taste. Top with any fresh herb you have on hand and crushed crackers. Yum Yum!

High Fiber Recipe!

I just started my diet today and here's a recipe that's high in fiber and low in carbs. I was wanting something with a little bite, but lots of fiber. The tuna salad is canned tuna, a little bit of mayo and Parmesan cheese, and mixed with lots of my favorite veggies. It has been pretty satisfying for me.

High Fiber Crackers

1 cup wheat bran

2/3 cup flax seed meal

1/3 cup wheat flour

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1 egg

2 Tbs olive oil

milk

Preheat to 350 Fahrenheit. Mix dry ingredients, add egg and olive oil. Add just enough milk for dough to form a ball. Place between parchment paper on cookie sheet. Roll out to 1/8 inch. Be sure not to make edges too thin. If edges are thin push them lightly back toward the center. Remove top layer of parchment paper. Bake for 20 minutes, use pizza cutter to cut into crackers. Let cool.

First Post and New Diet

Well I have decided to make this new blog. My family blog is now private. Email me or let me know if you would like to see my family blog.

Today I started a new diet. Right before I got married, I did the South Beach diet and I lost 20 lbs in about three months. This was my perfect size. I am almost to my pre-pregnancy weight, after having a baby about year ago. I confess to weighing 158 lbs. My perfect weight is 130 lbs. That is 28 lbs to lose. I know through hard work I will be able to do it, and your support will help me through it. Wish me luck!
